ABOUT
ΜΑΓΔΑ is a brand founded by ceramic artist Magda Petmeza.
Born and raised in Thessaloniki Greece, Magda attended Tufts University, where she received a Bachelor in Fine Arts and professionally trained in producing ceramics.
Magda fell in love with clay because of its connection to her own culture and history but also due to clay's ability to morph into absolutely anything; malleable and forgiving, with a little patience, clay can make anyone's dreams come true!
My Story
Growing up in Greece, I went on more school trips to Archeological Museum's than I could count and at the time, I would look at the ceramics and imagine what the people using them looked like, I tried to look for signs of life; a chip on the rim of a bowl, a glaze that had faded from the sun, a small inscription with someone's handwriting.
Years later, attending art school in the United States, I had the opportunity to learn about clay and its social and cultural history. I was fascinated by its immortal nature; if taken care of, clay will outlive all of us and serve as a way for future generations to learn about us and our lives.
What will they think about you and your story based on your home and belongings?
My ceramics are inspired by Ancient Greek traditions and aesthetics and infused with contemporary twists. My goal is to make art accessible to all homes and give everyone a chance to personalise their decor in a way that reflects their personality!
